Indianapolis Wedding Photographer Availability

A lot has changed since I started running Megelaine Images as a full-time company at the beginning of 2006. I got married to my wonderful husband, Tim. Digital cameras have gotten a lot better. My style of photography has evolved to mostly wedding photojournalism, which reflects my observing personality. America changed Presidents, and the world experienced the biggest economic downturn since the Great Depression!

Obviously, I can only list a few of the things that have changed since Megelaine Images was born, but one thing has not changed. I am convinced that I have the best brides of anyone in the industry! My brides are beautiful, sweet, organized, and loving. We take the time to get to know one another. And after I put 100% of myself into their wedding photos, I am always so encouraged to hear my brides talk about how they love their pictures or how they have told their best friend to use me for their upcoming wedding.

Because so many of you awesome brides have been talking about your experience with Megelaine Images, my 2010 calendar is filling up fast! I have room for maybe one more spring wedding, but June, July and early August are completely booked. And can I say that I am completely stoked to shoot all of those weddings! Open dates for the fall include August 21 & 28, September 4, 18 & 25 and October 2 & 16.

I thought it would be good to share my open 2010 dates because I am starting to get quite a few inquiries for dates that I'm already booked. That being said, don't be afraid to contact me even if you know that I'm booked for your wedding day. I know the other photographers in Indianapolis pretty well and can refer you to someone else that I know will do a great job. And if you have a 2011 wedding, I'd love to hear from you too!

Weddings With Wow ║ Indiana Historical Society

Last week I attended an event highlighting the latest wedding trends at the Indiana Historical Society. The event was called 'Weddings With Wow!' and it was hosted by the Indiana Chapters of the International Special Events Society (ISES) and the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC). As I have started to attend events with these two professional organizations, I have been blown away by the quality of the events and the amazing wedding vendors I've met. This event was no exception.

Each table on the floor of the gorgeous Eli Lilly Hall had been designed and decorated by one of Indianapolis' top florists or wedding designers, including Leslie Jones Weddings, D Ashley Design+Events, and Eclectic Events & Design. They were all beautiful and cutting edge.

After a great lunch provided by Hoaglin Fine Catering, there was an amazing presentation by The Wedding Guys. You may or may not have heard of these guys, but they are amazing at 'Trend Spotting'. They look around the world at Fashion, Fine Dining, and Interior Design to find the hot trends and up and coming colors. Then they incorporate those elements immediately into Wedding designs, making their signature weddings absolute trend setters. Some of the trends that they are predicting are softer colors and ivory, smaller events, and elevated culinary experiences. These guys really know there stuff and have accurately predicted many of the latest trends over the years. Check out their blog here.

Being an Entrepreneur: Guest Speaker

I recently had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at Miss Perryman's 4th grade class at Greenbriar Elementary. They are studying business and basic economics right now. I was a featured small business owner and entrepreneur. It was fun to be able to explain what running your own business is like and answer their questions. My favorite question had to be if I got to eat some of the wedding cake. My answer was yes of course and I even admitted that on occasion I ate two pieces. (one- I love, love good cake, two- the extra sugar rush helps me through the later parts of the reception)

In preparing to talk to the class I remembered that I was in 4th grade when I started to get really interested in photography. My dad let me borrow his old Pentax manual camera, before then I was shooting with a sweet plastic purple 110 film camera. I instantly was intrigued over the options of what a manual SLR held. Lots and lots of rolls of film later and the switch into digital and then I found myself taking pictures as my career. I guess it's never too early to begin developing your passions!

Amanda & Adam ║ Indianapolis║ Wedding Details

Since this is the season that many brides are planning their wedding, I wanted a post photographs just about details from Amanda and Adam's big day. They found lots of ways to have a big effect for a minimal amount of money. A huge help to cut on decorating costs was to have a venue that was gorgeous on its own. Allison Mansion here in Indianapolis was simply amazing for a smaller wedding (125). They just needed a few small touches to make it their own.

I loved that Adam designed the programs and included Sodoku on the back. Who doesn't have a little down time before the wedding or waiting to get dismissed? Adam gave her a custom book of all of the blog posts they had during their courtship and engagement, so sweet! On Amanda's bouquet was a photo of her late grandfather who was very dear to her heart. Even though a photo won't show it, they had a layer of banana flavored wedding cake. Also, under her dress she wore some sweet leg warmers to keep her toasty. Speaking of fashion statements, the ring bearer sported a superhero t-shirt under his tiny suit! Just a few things that made their wedding unique.

Amanda & Adam ║ Allison Mansion║ Wedding Day Part 2

Amanda & Adam got married at Common Ground Christian Church, where Tim and I attend as well. The ceremony was so sweet and celebrated God's faithfulness in allowing them to find each other. They even had a song called "January Wedding" played during the service.

Their reception was at the gorgeous Allison Mansion. It was the perfect site for their wedding. I love that Amanda willing to brave the cold for outside pictures, and the fresh snow from the night before just glistened! The food was great, the atmosphere couldn't be topped and there was so much love and joy at the reception. Their guests were not lacking in great dance moves either. The newlyweds left the cold Indiana winter for a warm sunny honeymoon!
