Adventures in the Kitchen

Surprisingly this post is about Tim's adventures in the kitchen and not mine. Since fall is quite busy for me, Tim took it upon himself to make a fantastic meal for me and our dinner guests last week. He went all out. Every recipe was from the "Cooking Light" cookbook. The menu line up was:
Appetizer- Red pepper walnut dip with toasted Baguettes
Entree- Lasagna Rolls w/Roasted Red Pepper Sauce
Sides - Oven roasted green beans and Grilled summer squash
Dessert- Poached Pears

The wine was delightful as well as the company of our guests Sonja and Alex, who themselves have quite an interesting blog. While this kind of quality food doesn't always show up at dinner time at the King house, it sure is a treat when it does. It's always nice to have a reason to use the good china. Cheers to kitchen adventures that turn out stellar!

Sushi Night

Although I am not a sushi fan at all, my husband Tim and his brother David sure are. So for David's birthday Tim had a sushi making party for the two of them. Tim's experience is limited to a class he took at the Conrad through Indy Hub, but he seemed to retain what he learned there. Even though I didn't eat any of it, I can say it was very pretty and they sure had a good time. Feel inspired to get creative in your kitchen!

Life in Broad Ripple - Fun Date Idea

Last night I went to what I think is one of the best deals in Broad Ripple, the Jazz Kitchen's 8 before 8 special. To decode, they offer 3 meals for only 8 dollars before 8pm on Mondays. Oh, did I mention that there's live jazz music too? The meals always are different, whatever the chef thinks up. Tim and I have been several times and never been disappointed. Last night I enjoyed fried chicken breast, fresh asparagus and mashed potatoes with a roasted red pepper gravy (delicious)! Tim had filet mignon with blue cheese, onions and a fig sauce with mashed potatoes. These people aren't messing around; the tastes are unique, the choices are good and it really only costs $8 per dinner! Fun date idea for a Monday for about $20.
